An evening with Gerald Hines and John C. Cushman, III
Gerald D. Hines
Mr. Hines founded his namesake firm in Houston in 1957. Since then, Hines has steadily grown into a global powerhouse in real estate investment, development and management. As a co-owner, along with his son Jeffrey, he leads the firm's Executive Committee, participates in new business and investor relationships and advises the firm's regions on architectural excellence. He is a frequent guest lecturer at major universities and a sought-after speaker at industry events. Among his proudest accomplishments are the support of the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston and the establishment of the ULI/Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition.
John C. Cushman, III serves as Co-Chairman of the Board of Cushman & Wakefield, a firm founded by his grandfather and great uncle that has grown to become the world’s largest private commercial real estate services firm with 256 offices in 60 countries with more than 16,000 employees. He is responsible for formulating and articulating strategic policies and initiatives for Cushman & Wakefield on a domestic and global basis. He has been acknowledged as the top office leasing broker in the country, and is credited for negotiating the largest office lease in the world – the world headquarters of Merrill Lynch & Company involving 4 million square feet. Mr. Cushman was just recently honored as the “Business Person of the Year” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Nick Wood, Moderator Nicholas J.
